3yellowrosesTransplanting -  When transplanting bare root roses, prepare your rose plant as normal. (for more tips on preparing bare root roses click here). Then mix Monty’s 4-15-12 Seed Starter at a rate of 1 oz per gallon in a container large enough to submerge the roots of the plant completely. Let plant or plants soak while you prepare your garden bed.  Transplant rose water the plant in with remaining solution from your ‘root dip’ container

In Season – Using one of the application methods described in the “General Application Guidelines” section of this website, apply Monty’s 8-16-8 Growth Formula to your rose plants weekly until your canes have reach the desired height for your variety and garden choices. Once canes have matured, switch to Monty’s 2-15-15 Root & Bloom. Apply weekly for optimum quantity, development, and color of blooms.

During Dormancy – It is important to continue application of Monty’s prior to first frost in colder climates or during periods of dormancy in warmer areas. Even though the plant is not actively growing or developing blooms during this period, flowers will only develop on new growth.  By making bi-weekly applications of Monty’s 2-15-15 you will allow the plant to store energy needed for future growth in the root system.

Additionally, Dormancy is a period when you can best amend your soil to correct issues like poor pH levels, compaction, or poorly draining soils.  To improve soil conditions we recommend using Monty’s Liquid Carbon soil conditioner at a rate of 2.5 oz per gallon of water.  With a dial and spray type applicator, fill the reservoir with Monty's Liquid Carbon and set dial to 2 Tablespoons.  Apply to the soil until the ground is evenly moist, not saturated.  Repeat monthly until desired soil texture or pH level is achieved.
